New Years Eve 2015 – Do’s and Don’ts…

As the end of the year fast approaches, and the weather gets warmer (or should be, Sydney) the low buzz of excitement sets in.

You can practically taste freedom in the air, and whether you choose to stay in your home city or ditch in favour of a festival or holiday – there’s no question that New Years excitement is building.

Many of us scoff at the prospect of being stuck in a club in the city with loads of people, no way of escaping until well after midnight, being forced to listen to hideous music and – ok sorry, this is turning into a fear flashback rather than a blog.

Here at Creative Little Soul, we’ve decided to put together a list of do’s and don’ts to get you through to 2016. Good luck, readers, and God speed.

Do

Plan ahead – There is nothing worse than loudly protesting to anyone within earshot “I just don’t do New Years, y’know? It’s so cliché”. Fast forward to 10pm December 31st and you’ve gotten sauced on cheap champers at home and decided to hit the town because “IT’S NEW YEARS YOU GUYS! STOP BEING SO BORING!” * hic *

Don’t

Assume all the fun is to be had on New Years Eve. New Years Day has slowly emerged as the party day of choice for those in the know.

No matter the city you’re in, you’d best believe there’s a party for those who to prefer to avoid the hullaballoo that is New Years Eve.

Or indeed, those that have refused to call it a day/night and go the distance. You know who you are. Take a bow, you trusty trashbags.

Or the patient folk in hospitality who served you the drinks you managed to pour everywhere but your mouth on NYE. New Years Day is their time to let loose in peace, resting assured that the boys and girls, the great pretenders who bother with NYE are safely tucked away at home, whimpering gently in front of Netflix.

New Years Day. Do it.

Do

Consider going away. If there’s one thing Australians love to do, it’s gather together in a remote location, put on some good music and get utterly wankered en masse.

There are a plethora of choices, should you wish to pack up the car and share a tent or caravan this year. Falls Festival in Lorne, Byron Bay or Marion Bay is one of the premier away events you could hope to attend, with new kid on the block Lost Paradise also a solid option for a weekend away, loaded to the hilt with good music galore.

Whatever it is that you choose to do, just keep the wise words of Andrew Levins in mind.

Don’t be a fuckwit!
