What is your new role at Creative Little Soul?
I am the new Content Creator / Marketing Assistant / Riverland Correspondent for CLS!
Where did you work prior to landing your job at CLS?
I ended my 5 year stint as a tourism business owner here in the lovely Riverland last year and thought ‘Why not give brickie labouring a go!?’. Crazy? I love using my body, being in the sun, and learning new skills. Putting my hat in the content/marketing ring again felt so right and I’m glad to be part of the go-getter CLS team part-time alongside moving and laying bricks!
You’re our new Riverland rep! How long have you lived in the Riverland and what are your most favourite things about it?
I relocated here from central Australia in Nov 2018. I used to travel here with a ski boat in tow every year for our annual summer houseboat holiday, and once I got to know and genuinely appreciate the place, I knew I had to make it home. I adore the hero attraction – the River, but am also in love with the community, the individual character, tidy and peaceful nature of each Riverland town. The more time you spend here the more treasures you uncover, it’s endless!
What was your first job and what did it teach you?
My first job was at Squiggles Playhouse Cafe in Alice Springs! Not only did it teach me kids pee a lot in indoor playgrounds (hi, I’m also the cleaner), but the biggest lesson I carry into my role is initiative. I remember being applauded for my initiative- it was the smallest act but the ability to assess and action something independently is a great trait.
What do you do to stay motivated at work? Do you have a productivity hack you can share with us?
Got to be two things: 1) Setting a timer for 2 hour workflow (coupled with ticking jobs off a list of course), and then having a break of some sort. 2) Mozart! Mozart was onto something. If its not for your brain, try a different non-lyrical music genre, EDM, acoustic, Japanese jazz, whatever works!
Favourite social media platform and why?
It’d have to be Instagram. I love a visual feed, captivating captions, and engaging reels! Insta grabs be over any other. My saved posts/quotes/reels help me a lot through some mentally tough times also!
Where do you go looking for inspiration?
Inspo comes from many places for me. Depending on what I’m trying to find mojo for, I could find it through op shopping and expressing myself through how I adorn my body and home, moving my body, lifting heavy things, or walking through nature and absorbing it all. I find inspiration through many authentic and passionate women I follow on Instagram. Travel! I don’t get too much but a cruisy little road trip hits the spot too.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love to jump on my little custom Bobber and go for a ride, paint canvas, head down to the river with the kids to lay in the sun or go for a wake, head to the nearest watering hole for a cold brew, and catch up with friends and family. I also have a newfound love of Lego- how much better than puzzles!?
Fav Disney Princess/Character and why?
Why did I think this would be the easiest Q? For my childhood, I have to say, Woody. He’s so stubborn and self-centred but learns with his friends what really matters. For my adulthood, Merida from Brave. From her fiery locks to her fiery personality, she goes against society’s gender expectations. Her relationship with her momma bear is how I see relationships typically go with girls and their mums. I must admit, I can currently relate!
What’s one place on your bucket list that you would love to travel to and why?
Italy! I want to cook with all the mummas, I want to drink vino under the shade of a vine with a blue coast in the far distance. I want to see, smell, taste everything Italian. Salute!
At CLS we are very focused on self-care. Can you share with us some of the things you do to look after yourself that keep you in a good place to take on the challenges of your daily life?
Connecting with my spirituality/higher consciousness through journaling, card pulling, delving deep into shadow and finding where that moon is a what cycle we’re on! Always striving for a balanced diet (not always achieving it), sun on my skin, good music in my ears, moving my body through gym or dance, and revisiting my self-love/care saved files on IG. And when it’s all too much for my own mind- reaching out, whether it be someone I know or a professional.
What are you most excited about in your new role at CLS?
I’m genuinely excited to get my creative juices flowing again with an enthusiastic team by capturing stories through visuals and storytelling. Expressing and sharing other people’s passions and journeys on a platform to reach other humans means so much to me as an avid Riverland ambassador.
You’ll see Kim’s name popping up and her work happening behind the scenes. If you’re based in the Riverland especially then she’s your girl so get in contact today. We’re very excited to have her here as part of our team!
