The end of the year is neigh. Are you stressing about doing all the things? December can be overwhelming, especially when you’ve found yourselves slap bang in the middle of Worry Town. There are gifts to buy, celebrations to plan for, family lunches to organise and work to wrap up before the clock strikes 2021.
Here at Creative Little Soul HQ we’re all about eliminating the stress out of the Silly Season by working our productivity apps to the core. Don’t fret friends because we’re here to share our digital tips for getting stuff done. The CLS team has gathered a bunch of tools to help you ride the Yuletide wave before we say cheerio to this wretched year.
The best apps to boost your productivity
- Health and Wellbeing Apps
Changing your mindset works wonders for your stress levels and when you look at the bigger picture with positive outlook, you are more far more productive. So we’re going to suggest that you first stop antagonising about all the things and put yourself in the Zen Zone with Tiana’s top five health and wellbeing apps for everyday use.
- Music Apps
According to a research paper from the University of Windsor, Canada music increases one’s work performance. What a perfect excuse to sort out your pump-up playlist and get yourselves in the groove for chores. This tactic works particularly well when undertaking repetitive and or monotonous tasks, so put your tunes on and get your to-do list ticked off. Our go-to music app is Spotify and if disco tunes are your jam, check out Chrissy’s Spotify playlist. Otherwise, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Apple Music or Amazon Prime Music will do the trick.
- Trello
If you’ve yet to jump on board the Trello train, we’re here to tell you why you should. Trello is a collaborative tool that allows you to manage your tasks via online visual ‘boards.’ The beauty of Trello is the ability for colleagues, clients and teams to collectively view and edit boards so that everyone knows what’s going on. This tool is a favourite for the CLS Team because all staff members work remotely and it allows everyone track each other’s progress which helps get stuff done. Poke around Trello here and see it’s for you.
- Magnet for Mac
Do you work on a Mac? If you do and you’re fed up of switching screens all the time, there’s a great window managing app called Magnet. Magnet helps you organise your digital workspace by snapping your windows into organised tiles. This tool gives you the functionality of a dual-screen. When you eliminate the need to switch between tabs you get stuff done without distraction. Winning. AquaSnap is another alternative.
- Toggl
Toggl is an app to help you track your time. For example, should you need to track how long a specific project takes, you can clock the hours spent on each task by using Toggl. The app is particularly popular with the freelance crowd because Toggl’s features allow you to analyse your productivity and work out where you are spending most of your time. For more information head to toggl.com.
- Caffeine
We’re not talking about Caffeine in coffee form here (although a brew works wonders too), Caffeine is an app that prevents your computer from going into sleep mode. You know those times when you take a call and your computer thinks you’re done and nods off for a bit? Annoying, isn’t it. Download Caffeine for Mac or Windows and stop that happening. Another highly-rated app offering similar functionality is Amphetamine.
Other ways to boost your workflow
Switch off your notifications
Living in high tech times means we have an array of digital productivity apps at our fingertips. We can’t be completely reliant on screens to manage our workloads of course and that’s why we suggest putting your phone on silent and stop your social media notifications while you concentrate on the tasks you need to tick off.
Give yourselves a break
Make sure you give yourselves enough breaks. Rest and exercise both works wonders for stress levels. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, close your laptop, go for a walk and clear your head. If things are just too much, call it quits and start fresh the next day.
A problem shared is a problem halved
Our last suggestion is to talk things through. A problem shared is a problem halved. Bounce your work worries off your colleague who might see things from a different perspective. Perhaps you can work through some of the difficult tasks on your lists together?
