Hey Creative friends. So likely you’ve spent a tonne of money over the holiday and festive season. Oh wait a minute, we’re creative people so there probably wasn’t loads to start with anyway. If you’re like me you probably put everything you earn back into your business, pay your staff, the rest goes to bills and then you’re looking at great ways to can connect, create and learn throughout the rest of the year. Since watching The True Cost documentary mid last year, I’ve hardly bought any new clothes and I refuse to do so. I think I’ll be asking for underwear or socks this year, or just going without -meh.
So back to the topic at hand and what you’re more interested in than my lack of spending in the fashion world. Last year the Analogue Digital Conference held in Brisbane was well on our radar, but we weren’t in a position to go. Busy and building our business up. I did say that next year, I’d be much more organised and would be going. Success, by being organised and having my goals organised earlier it’s now booked in and I’ll be visiting sunny Bris-vegas in May. I reached out to the Managing Director Matthew Haynes, and we had a really great phone call and conversation. It was evident that Matthew was not only on the ball with all things design, creative and tech- but his project, passion and baby was a well oiled machine which was set to bring free thinkers and creatives from around the globe together in a unique and chilled event format. Really that unless experienced it was really difficult to get a full feel for the event and what it delivered.
You can watch Matt here in his own words and video, giving you a bit of a run down on it all!

To deliver and do more in the way of offering world class domestic and local speakers and support, the AD took to a Pozible campaign. Anyone that promotes and puts on an event knows that whatever the formula, genre or esteem of the artists there are costs that need to be paid. Deposits, airfares, accommodation and well the costs all amount. To sell tickets you need to have some headliners, but to lock them in you need cash flow. The event and festival already has a long standing repertoire and history, so for patrons to put up the cash for the campaign in no ones minds was doubted for a second. The team have slashed tickets in 1/2 encouraging people to purchase, have some cash in the kitty and at specific milestones along the way, they’ll announce more acts.
That means from a consumer prospective you’re getting access to a 2 day world class event for $99.00. A bloody good deal if you ask me, and I’ve already grabbed mine in support of such events to be able to continue.
The campaign is set to run for another 7 days, with the AD team looking to meet their target of $15,000. They’re already 82% of the way, so that’s not too shabby at all. You can pledge, donate, purchase a t-shirt. Whatever you’re in for in the way of support (if it’s your thing then by all means). You can see their campaign here.
There’s a great range of speakers and activities across the 2 days and any FAQ’s can be answered here. More and more we’re seeing people getting behind crowd funding, supporting their every day fellow citizens in following their dreams and creating “something”.
We’re looking forward to the event and can’t wait to see what it has in store for us. See you in May QLD!
