Lydy Has It All. Convenient, Stylish And Sustainable.
It is our pleasure to introduce you to the reusable lid that fits in your pocket, on almost every cup and, is the sexiest and simplest way you can do your bit to help to save the world!
This is Lauren …, the Founder of Lydy.
After years of building her locally famous Wild Flour Cafe and bringing joy to the hearts, mouths and tummies of countless Sydney based coffee and food lovers alike, Lauren is back in the business and, on an incredible mission to do no less than help save the world.
Prepare your excited faces, busy-bees, the “I forgot my cup” squad, skinny jean lovers, small-bag carriers, tree-huggers, style-icons the “sorry I’m late” club and coffee-comes-first believers far and wide. The time has come…
Lydy Has Arrived.
Lydy has officially crash-landed into our hearts, bags and pockets as 2022’s clever, convenient and damn right trendy way to consume coffee consciously with an extra side of #onfleek.
We know Lauren loves coffee, baking and sharing her passions with the world. But what we didn’t know, is what inspired Lauren to create this ingenious product? Who do we have to thank for the gift of finally being able to look our latte-art boasting baristas in the eye once more?
Who Is The Lady Behind The Lydy?
It is believed that the pivotal moment that inspires our life’s purpose is often internalized far before we venture into adulthood. Perhaps this rings true for Lauren, as she joins a long list of inspirational, innovative and ingenious entrepreneurs who didn’t exactly gel well with the traditional schooling system.
To this point, Lauren once had a teacher tell her – “She was never gonna amount to more than a checkout chick”.
Which is clearly offensive, problematic and ignorant on too many levels to even begin to unpack.
That being said, perhaps this is that aforementioned pivotal moment in Lauren’s young life. That purpose-inspiring moment that led her to become one of those truly incredible women. The type of woman that emulates inspirational energy in those she connects with. The type of woman that, when you speak with them, reminds you that being a creative dreamer, far from a curse is a blessing. That reminds you that dreamers are the world-changers and that you are capable of anything you put your mind to.
So on a personal note, I’d like to thank that a**hole teacher.
As when I met with Lauren to find out about Lydy, the above was the exact experience I had with Lauren for the duration of our conversation.
Lauren is a jack-of-all-trades and frankly, a master of most of them.
From managing a London-based nail bar to working with stockbrokers & bankers to studying psychology, practising hypnotherapy and, not to mention, running the appropriately named wildly successful cafe/bakery Wild Flour (all I might add, while also raising a beautiful family!).
Clearly, Lauren is a force to be reckoned with.
Reading the above, it won’t surprise you that Lauren is rarely someone who doesn’t have her hands, pockets, brain, bags and google calendar full to the brim.
Which, though admittedly inconvenient for Lauren at times, turned out to be a blessing for the rest of us mere mortals.
“Why?” you might ask.
It is her exceptionally busy lifestyle that happened to create yet another pivotal moment in Lauren’s life. This life-changing moment was a big one.
This moment was where Lydy was born.
A Lid-le Moment Of Inspiration
On a busy day like any other busy day, Lauren executed a flawless “mum-in-a-rush” parallel park, filled her arms with an impossible number of bags, miraculously unbuckled her daughter, Aurora and, with balancing skills that would make a trapeze artist envious, scooped her up and rested her firmly on her hip.
As I’m sure you can already imagine from this image, Lauren and caffeine go hand-in-hand. So carrying more bags than a Kardashian’s assistant, she miraculously freed a hand to begin the daily ritual of rustling around bag- by-bag to find her reusable cup.
A sigh of relief came mere seconds after feeling the glass and pulling it out and into the daylight. Unfortunately, quicker than the sigh of relief came, it was gone. Replaced with a loud gasp as somehow and someway she felt her fingers release the cup and watched in slow motion-esque terror as the glass shattered all over the ground.
Believe it or not, this had not been a one-off incident. On this particular occasion, however, as Lauren silently cursed the shards of glass surrounding her, she found herself asking one game-changing question…
“Why Isn’t There Just A Lid That Fits On Any Cup?”
Lauren dwelled on this thought and in a Hollywood-style moment of clarity envisioned the whole thing. The business, the customer, the design, the mission, the planet, everything. It was all there and she could see it clear as day.
1.5 years later, an unimaginable amount of time, hard work and grit and finally Lydy has ventured out into the world.
Never again will coffee-lovers have a guilt-driven cafe visit from forgetting to wash or bring their cup. Never again will we be late to the office because we forgot that our cup was in the dishwasher. Never again will you have to carry heavy glasses in bulky bags, or watch helplessly as glass cups smash to the floor.
Lydy is here to make sustainability sexy and, with a whole range of hot AF colours to choose from, we’d say that she is really nailing that goal.
Want To Get Your Lips On Lydy?
Lydy has just launched a brand new Kickstarter campaign where you can get your hands, cups and hearts on one for 20% off the retail price!
When you back Lydy, you are supporting an independent business on a mission to make saving the world easier. I for one, can’t think of anything better than that.
If you want to follow Lydy along on her mission, we recommend you check out their awesome socials! Full disclosure though, there’s a strong chance you will get colour envy and want the whole range out of FOMO.
Note from Chrissy: “Lauren is a good personal friend of mine and I’m so proud to be able to bring her once idea concept to life. It has been our absolute pleasure to help her get the word out there and I’m so excited to see this product take off. She is self funded, a small business owner and working Mum so if you can show her some love and support her, I’d be forever grateful. xx”.
