The new year is here and quite frankly we couldn’t be happier about it. After an eventful twelve months, we’re welcoming a new chapter in with open arms here at CLS. 2020 was one hell of a ride but we’d rather focus on the positives because despite the chaos, there have been some damn good things to come out of the year we’d otherwise like to forget.
Some have coined 2020 as the year of the “awakening,” heightening our sense of awareness for the environment. With the realisation that we’re putting a strain on humanity and our fragile planet, we are seeing a rise in others wanting to follow a better, more sustainable life.
If you are thinking about dipping your toe into greener waters or simply want to educate yourselves in all things eco, we have curated a list of our favourite sustainability podcasts to tune in to in 2021
Sustainability Defined
This is a great podcast for understanding the basics of sustainability in a broad field. Each episode breaks down different topics associated with the term, and is a great way to fill the gaps in your knowledge through an informative and educational lens. Perfect for sustainable practice beginners
Green Dreamer
The Green Dreamer podcast is an insightful resource because it is part of a bigger multimedia platform. Podcast hosts explore the path to ecological regeneration and holistic healing, with the aim to cultivate true abundance and wellness for all *yes to this*. The topic of sustainability is further explored through questioning our communities and societies at-large by collectively reaching alignment on earth. Sounds dreamy!
Sustainababble
If you are after a lighter hearted listen, Sustainbabble is for you! It is a weekly podcast about the environment “for and by the confused.” Responding to the question of why sustainability is so confusing, the hosts attempt to reach enlightenment on each episode with laughs along the way (and often failing). It’s topical, funny and hopefully more than a little cathartic.
Sustainable(ish)
This podcast is great for those who are new to the sustainability bandwagon and/or those who are feeling the guilt of not being sustainable “enough”. Sustainable(ish) explores sustainable alternatives in the home and everyday life. Sustainable hacks, zero waste at work and lots more! The podcast series also encourages listeners to make small changes everyday rather than feeling guilty or judged by influential eco-warriors. Sustainable(ish) content is super accessible, relatable and insightful. Every little helps!
Wardrobe Crisis
Once you’ve listened to all things climate change and filled your brain with interesting facts and figures on sustainability itself you can explore consumerism with the Wardrobe Crisis – particularly poignant with Christmas just around the corner. Wardrobe Crisis is a fantastic podcast by eco-influencer Clare Press journalist and former editor of Marie Claire Australia). According to Clare this show “unzips the real issues that face consumerism and the fashion industry today, with a focus on ethics, sustainability, purchasing, consumer behaviour, activism, identity and creativity”. Wardrobe Crisis is well worth a listen if you’ve been meaning to sort out your lockdown shopping addiction (we can’t use lockdown as an excuse anymore, people!), or if you shopped up a storm in the Black Friday Sales. Wardrobe Crisis is an informative, educating, interesting and current listen.
