Q&A with Creative Little Soul’s Customer Service Support Specialist
Creative Little Soul (CLS) is an award-winning digital and creative marketing agency. We provide business support and creative services such as content creation, digital marketing strategies and design for our clients in the hospitality industry.
Chrissy Symeonakis established Creative Little Soul in 2013. From humble beginnings, CLS is now a team of ten creatives who each bring a wealth of talent to business.
Now we introduce you to Creative Little Soul’s Customer Service Support Specialist, Kristy Corey.
Hi Kristy. Can you tell us about your career history?
I’m a mixed bag when it comes to my career. I’ve dabbled in the dental, medical, veterinary, hospitality and manufacturing industries. My career ranges from practice manager to bookkeeping/assistant accountant roles and a little bit of this and that in between. I would say my strongest skills are in the areas of business and finance, having completed a Bachelor of Accounting as a mature aged student. Since children, I have utilised my skills and experience in a new direction, by which I have created a restaurant directory aimed at parents.
When did you start working at Creative Little Soul and how did you find out about the role?
I commenced late February 2020 and the position arose due to my current connection with Chrissy from current venture.
What does your role at CLS involve?
I am only new in this position and currently my main responsibility is to manage the social reviews for venues managed by CLS. I look forward to assisting in other areas.
Tell us about your favourite social media platform and why you love it?
Facebook and Snapchat seem to be my go-to when it comes to maintaining friendships with my mum friends. The use of groups in Facebook and video in Snapchat makes conversing and keeping in touch easier. When I want something light to pass the time, I enjoy scrolling Instagram for my next feed or Tik Tok for my next laugh.
What would you say makes great content on social media?
This depends on platform or the type of mood I’m in. I love a lot of light content, where you don’t have to take life so seriously, but at the same time I love people who show it how it is and don’t sugar coat life.
Tell us about the work you are doing outside of CLS
Kids For Dinner is my baby. I’m a strong advocate for restaurants to improve their offerings for families. This restaurant directory exists to educate parents on dining with children and to provide a directory of restaurants that are meeting child-friendly expectations.
This has also created a strong presence for restaurants to utilise my knowledge to increase their child friendly offerings. I’ll be launching mystery dining services later this year, where I can ultilise my knowledge and assist restaurants with better meeting the expectations from parents.
I also enjoy creating content and writing articles on these topics. I’ve recently learnt that I enjoy writing, so I’ve enjoyed contributing to KidTown Melbourne too.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time with my two young children and husband. We enjoy dining out and do so regularly, but also are happy to stay home and spend time outside too. A lot of time is spent revolving around my son, due to his Autism. We regularly have therapists attend home and he also commenced kinder this year.
Managing work with two young children can be tricky! Can you tell us your tips and tricks for managing the juggle?
Firstly, a routine is important to understand where you have time low in distractions. Secondly, a boss that understands that there needs to be a family/life balance is important. The rest falls in place, but it’s important to be able to manage your time well and self-motivate yourself to work. Having a plan B and being flexible is important too.
What are you watching right now? (movie series, doco, TV show, etc)
I’m passed out by 10pm every night, so I don’t get to binge watch anything lately. However, we have started watching X-Files from season 1 again and the remake of Battlestar Gallatica. The most recent movies we have seen was the latest Star Wars and Terminator.
Any advice you might give to others who might like to find a job working remotely / work from home?
You have to be diligent and motivated to do so. It’s very easy to get distracted by your “to do” list at home. If you can separate work and life and schedule working time, you’ll be successful in a role like this. It’s also a very autonomous role, so it suits anyone who is used to working solo. The most difficult part is the erratic interruptions from children, so you also need to be able to jump straight back into what you were doing without any trouble doing so.
