Due to our expansion, we think it’s about time we introduced members of the CLS team to you. Read our Q&As with Tori Clarke, Clare Szepski, Tom Quinn and Claire Poulton.
Now we introduce you to Creative Little Soul’s Social Media Marketing Assistant, Melissa Hall.
Hi Mel! Can you tell us about your role with Creative Little Soul and when you started at CLS?
I’m quite a new addition to the CLS fam! I’ve been here since November 2019 and lurk behind the scenes.
What does your average CLS working day look like?
Working part-time with CLS my average day includes rattling up some punny captions for social media posts & knocking up events to share across facebook and a number of external sites!
What do you love about social media and what do you not love about it?
I love how social media has given us the opportunity to connect with so many people/brands on a worldwide scale that you might not have access to without! I don’t love the toxicity it can sometimes create and the influence it can have on young people and mental health.
Social media is constantly evolving, so how do you keep up to speed with all these rapid changes and updates we’re seeing?
Having a team at CLS with lots of like-minded saavy social media gurus is a great way! We are always sharing articles and blogs we find on new and upcoming updates. Being an active social media user myself for both business and pleasure, I’m also forced to learn the updates as they happen whether you like them or not! Lol!
What is your preferred social media platform and why?
I love Instagram. Guilty, I’m addicted! It’s a great way to keep up with friends and family, see what they are up to, but also I can keep upto date with my favourite DJs, celebs, events, gym workouts and recipes to name a few.
What would you say is working on socials right now and why?
Video content! With the movement of apps like TikTok, stories, IGTV etc… video content is proving to be more engaging.
You’re not from Australia originally so tell us what you love most about your life in Sydney and what you miss about your home city.
I LOVE the eastern suburbs lifestyle! Im originally from London but nothing beats the coastal walk with a coffee on the weekend. I of course miss my family, and I think the culture in London is second to none.
What do you love to do when you’re not working?
Attend anything music related, eat my body weight in pizza, drink margaritas with friends or as mentioned a good old weekend coastal walk in the sun.
Do you have any side hustles on the go?
I did some puppy-sitting on the weekend which paid extremely well and dabbling in DJing!
Tell us about the last movie you watched and would you recommend it?
Bombshell! It was pretty good, hadn’t watched the trailer and had no idea what it was about so I was a bit surprised when I was hit with a serious #metoo storyline starring Margot Robbie.
Any advice you might give to others who might be considering a career in social media marketing?
Do a short course to gain a better understanding of what it entails, it’s not all posting pretty pictures (I have a degree in Forensics which I’ll never use) you want to make sure it’s something you love!
